The Swiss coat of arms
The coat of arms of the Swiss Confederation is an expression of the power and dignity of the state and is therefore a protected public sign. Under the revised Coat of Arms Protection Act, its use is reserved for the Swiss Confederation.
Up until 31 December 2018, you could apply for a right of continued use for trade marks for services containing the Swiss coat of arms or a sign that could be confused with it and which were applied for or registered before 18 November 2009. The prerequisite for this was an interest worthy of protection.
