Development cooperation
Legal basis
Based on its legal mandate, the IPI takes part in international cooperation in the area of intellectual property. This cooperation takes place either independently or in collaboration with other national and international organisations. The IPI works closely with the other competent federal offices in this area.
At international level, Switzerland has committed to carrying out technical cooperation with developing countries in the field of intellectual property. Such cooperation facilitates, for example:
- A more efficient operation of the competent authorities
- Training of relevant employees
- Drafting of legislation
