Translate list of goods and services
Once you’ve created a list of goods and services, you can translate it into an official Swiss language or into English. The database is searched for terms with the same meaning in the target language.
Translate your list of goods and services (LGS), for example, if it has been submitted to you in English for a Swiss trade mark application, or if you wish to apply for an extension of protection via the Madrid System and the list for the Swiss basic trade mark is not available in French. For applications for Swiss trade marks, the list must be filed in one of the official Swiss languages (German, French or Italian), while for applications for international registration, it must be filed in French.
The translation is done by logically linking the terms in our database and is not comparable to a semantic translation.
All terms in the database are grouped together in cross-linguistic groups, known as concepts, provided they have the same meaning. Within a concept, one term is defined as the ‘preferred term’ in each language available. This is used in the target language for the translation of all synonyms in the source language.
All synonyms, preferred translations and alternative translations can be viewed in the detailed view by clicking
If terms or parts of terms can’t be translated automatically, they will be highlighted in colour. Using the ‘Notes only’ filter, you can display only the terms that contain a note.
You can edit the translated terms by selecting the pencil icon.
Finally, you can export a selection or all goods and services to continue working in an application of your choice.
