PCT applications with the IPI as Receiving Office can now be submitted online (ePCT)
If you want to submit an application for the grant of a patent under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and designate the IPI as the Receiving Office, you no longer have to send your application on paper or by fax. You can now also submit your application online via the ePCT portal of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This system makes submitting international applications simpler and more efficient.
Applicants using the portal have access to their files at all times, with a number of functions making it easier to monitor time limits and manage the application. The web-based service also facilitates applying online by validating the data entered and highlighting parts of the application incorrectly or inconsistently filled out. Applicants can also communicate via the portal with the WIPO and with the Receiving Office as well as receive notifications. A further advantage is that the filing fee is reduced by between CHF 200 and CHF 300 if the application is submitted via the ePCT portal.
You can find further information about PCT applications on our website under the sections international patent application and filing an international patent application.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at epct-notifications. @ipi .ch
