The theme of this year's biotechnology conference of the Patent Information User Group (PIUG), an international network for patent information specialists, is maximising value in biotechnology searching using the newest technologies and trends. In his presentation at the conference, Prof. Heinz Müller, a patent expert at the IPI, will delve into the opportunities and risks in creating and interpreting patent statistical analyses, such as how are the usual patent indices to be understood? And does a land with a high patent density per capita really offer a good research environment for each technology sector?
