Lecture series ip@6: Panel discussion with Sara Stalder, Peter Münch, Claude Sutter and Jürg Herren "The fight against counterfeiting" - Bern, 26.05.2015

11.05.2015 |

Anyone whose products stand out from the ordinary and everyday has always been a target of plagiarists and illegitimate users. Counterfeiters try to copy the characteristics, materials or look of an original or legally-protected product in order to benefit from the reputation of the genuine article, which is based on a trade mark, an indication of source (such as 'Swiss Made'), a design or a patent. The phenomenon of counterfeiting has, in the meantime, assumed worrying proportions worldwide, with Swiss companies also being the victims of counterfeiters. What can be done to prevent this? Where does the responsibility lie in the fight against counterfeiting? Does Swiss legislation provide sufficient possibilities in this fight or should it be tightened? Should consumers bear more responsibility? Sara Stalder, Peter Münch, Claude Sutter and Jürg Herren tackle the topic in a panel discussion led by Felix Addor,  and try find answers to the many questions raised by this issue.
