Completely redesigned classification tool now available to trade mark applicants

Since 2012, the IPI’s classification tool has reliably assisted trade mark applicants with creating lists of goods and services. This popular tool is now available in a completely redesigned version. Both the underlying technology and the tool’s appearance have been updated.

It’s now possible to compare different versions of lists of goods and services, as well as to create, verify and translate them. Advanced search functions allow for more targeted and flexible searches, e.g. for similar terms too. The results can then be exported in various formats. For example, they can now be saved as CSV files and imported during online registration via e-trademark.

The classification tool is available in four languages, including English. However, if you’re applying for a Swiss trade mark, the list of goods and services must still be filed in German, French or Italian. For applications for international registration, the list must be filed in French.

Further information can be found on the classification tool information page and in the help texts available in the classification tool.
