Design protection can be extended to other countries within six months after the first filing in a country. During this period, the novelty is maintained.

There are several possibilities to protect your design abroad: an international filing at the World Intellectual Property Organization; filing at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for all the European Union member countries; or filing directly in the country of interest.
