Preserving traditional knowledge
The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) recognises that it is important to preserve the traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples in order to conserve biological diversity and to ensure the sustainable use of its components. The Conference of the Parties to the CBD has therefore created the Working Group on Article 8(j) which concerns traditional knowledge. The goal of the working group is to implement the Programme of Work for Article 8(j).
