Privacy statement and terms of use

Although the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) takes all reasonable care to ensure the correctness of the information published, no guarantee can be given that it is correct, accurate, up-to-date or complete.
The IPI expressly reserves the right to change, delete or temporarily not publish any content, in full or in part, without prior notice.
The IPI is not liable in any event, to the extent permitted by law, for any loss or damage of a material or immaterial nature arising from access to or use or non-use of published information, or from misuse of the connection or technical faults.

References and links
References and links to third party websites are outside of the IPI’s scope of responsibility. Any access and use of such websites is entirely at the user’s own risk. The IPI expressly states that it has no influence whatsoever over the design, content or offers of any linked site. The information and services of any linked site is entirely the responsibility of the relevant third party.
We do not assume any responsibility for the content of such websites.

Data protection
Based on Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and on data protection laws, everyone has the right to protection of their privacy and to protection against misuse of their personal details.  The Swiss Federal Authorities comply with these provisions. Personal data is treated as strictly confidential and is neither passed on nor sold to third parties. In close cooperation with our hosting providers, we make every effort to protect the databases as far as possible against third-party access, data loss, misuse or falsification.

When you access our website, no personal data is stored. Our hosting providers’ web servers only record non-personal usage data (log files) in order to track trends for the purpose of improving our services. Such usage data forms the basis of anonymous statistical evaluations, which we can use to improve our services accordingly.

This website also uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). The IPI has activated IP anonymisation for this website. This means that the IP addresses of visitors to IPI websites, which Google Analytics must submit to the Google Analytics servers, are automatically and almost immediately truncated to the last few digits.

When you choose to contact us, your email address will be stored in a separate database, which is not linked to the anonymous log files.

In certain cases, for example for Google Analytics, we use cookies (i.e. text files that are stored on your computer that allow your website use to be analysed). You can set your browser to display a warning on the screen before saving a cookie. You can also opt out of the benefits of cookies. In this instance, certain services cannot be used.

You can prevent the installation of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser software. However, should you do so, please note that you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent Google from capturing the data generated by your cookie (including your IP address) and from processing this data.

By using this website, you agree to the processing of data collected about you by Google in the manner and for the purpose described above.

Information on the IPI’s websites is accessible to the public. Downloading or copying content, images, photos or any other data does not constitute any transfer of rights regarding the downloaded material.
Copyright and any other rights relating to content, images, photos or any other data available on the IPI’s websites are the exclusive property of the IPI or of any other explicitly mentioned rights owner. Any reproduction requires the prior written consent of the copyright holder.
