At the IPI’s information stand, a display case of counterfeits received a lot of attention. It was provided by STOP PIRACY – the Swiss anti-counterfeiting and piracy platform.

More than 1,000 inventions from 42 countries were on display at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions, which took place recently in Geneva. The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) had an information stand once again at the anniversary edition. We also took our video camera to find out more about the inventors.

Many inventors were attending the exhibition with the goal of finding an investor. Some participants displayed framed patents at their stands as a sign of quality. Protecting an invention before presenting it publicly is extremely important. If an innovation is made public before a patent application is filed, it can no longer be protected. This is because an invention must be new worldwide on the filing date.
