Coronavirus update – information for our customers and visitors

We are at your disposal and are continuing to support you.

Due to the stricter protective measures imposed by the Canton of Bern from 12 October 2020 (official media release of the Canton of Bern in German and French), we at the IPI have also adapted our own measures.

Access to the IPI is prohibited to the public. Visitors can be received at the IPI by prior appointment only, subject to the safety and security measures ordered by the canton.

All information on the IPI's measures during the coronavirus pandemic.

We thank you for your understanding and look forward to staying in contact with you.

Individuals and companies register their innovations and creations with the IPI in order to protect them from being copied: inventions are patented, names registered as logos or trade marks and shapes as designs. The IPI maintains the public register for the management of IP rights and informs the general public about the possibilities of protecting intellectual property.
The IPI is the federal government’s centre of competence for all issues concerning patent and trade mark protection, indications of source, design protection and copyright.
