Conference on the Future of IP

From 11 to 13 September, IP experts from around the world gathered in Zurich for the European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) Conference. The topic: the future of IP. Over the course of three days at ETH Zurich, attendees took part in lectures, panel discussions and workshops on IP rights.

Well-attended IPI panel

As one of the conference sponsors, the IPI organised a panel entitled “IP, Policy and Politics”. This centred on how scientific findings can find their way to political decision-makers, which perfectly complimented the other academic presentations. The IPI was also involved in a panel with chief economists from the various IP offices present. The conclusion following the three-day conference: “Given the wide range of presentations, at least from an academic perspective, we do not need to worry about the future of IP”, says Hansueli Stamm, the IPI's Chief Economist.
