The new Swiss Cleantech Report has been published. It presents sustainable innovations from Switzerland developed by SMEs, research institutes and start-ups. Drones for sustainable agriculture, technologies for recycling specific components, state-of-the-art energy management systems and an electric aircraft are just some of the many projects from a total of five categories.

Whenever new technologies are developed, protecting inventions also plays a central role. In its Cleantech Report, the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) takes a close look at patents in the Swiss cleantech industry, and concludes that Swiss innovations are at the top of the global league, particularly in photovoltaics.

 

Just how much movement there is in the industry can be seen by looking at employment figures. Jobs in this sector have risen by 25 per cent over the last five years and currently account for around five per cent of the national gross domestic product.
