Publication of the study on the potential for optimising the Swiss national patent system
Even though the Swiss patent system has stood the test of time over the years, it is worthwhile reviewing from time to time to ensure that it still meets the requirements of a rapidly changing framework. Decommissioning of the PCT-EASY functionality
From 1 July 2015, it will no longer be possible to file PCT applications in PCT-EASY mode.All PCT applications submitted on paper together with a copy in electronic form on or after 1 July 2015 will be treated as a PCT application in paper format. Change in practice concerning the division of applications for registration in accordance with Article 17a Trade Mark Act
The Institute will, in future, charge a filing fee for divisional applications when a division of an application for registration is requested. This change in practice will enter into force immediately and will be applied to all new divisional applications submitted.

Conference commemorating 125 years of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property IPI

New electronic trade mark examination support tool
Since this morning, the new electronic trade mark examination tool is available on the IPI website. The tool is a database of the Institute containing more than 500 entries. It replaces the previous database, "Trade mark examination practice" and also contains Institute decisions on applications for trade mark registration.
