The following channels of communication are available for submissions concerning trade mark procedures:

Please note the following:

  • The official email address for submissions concerning trade mark procedures is: tm.adminnot shown@ekomm.ipito make life hard for spam bots.ch. Only submissions that are sent to this address are considered to be legally-binding and in observance of the time limit. They are only deemed to have been received by the IPI when you have received a confirmation email (see the Terms of Use for Email Submissions (PDF).
  • Trade mark applications as well as applications for an international registration based on a Swiss trade mark must be submitted using the official form and may be sent via post, courier, fax, or email (as a PDF attachment).
  • Requests to divide an application or a trade mark, requests to withdraw or cancel an application or trade mark as well as to cancel or divide goods and service classes still need a signature and therefore may only be submitted via email as a PDF attachment.
  • Certificates (e.g. certificates of transfer, power of attorney, priority documents) must be submitted via email as a PDF attachment.
  • The IPI also reserves the right to request the original signed document at a later date.
  

Patents

The following channels of communication are available for submissions concerning patent procedures:

Please note the following:

  • Confirmation of equivalence for repeat filings of biological material for a Swiss patent filing may NOT be sent via email. For EP and PCT patent applications, the respective organisation’s online application system must be used.
  • Withdrawing a patent application, waiving a patent, partially waiving a patent, waiving the SPC as well as filing or rectifying the name of the inventor and waiving the naming of the inventor still require a signature and therefore may only be submitted via email as a PDF attachment.
  • Certificates (e.g. certificates of transfer, power of attorney, priority documents) must be submitted via email as a PDF attachment.
  • The IPI also reserves the right to demand the original signed document at a later date.
