Background

The Swiss-Chinese bilateral dialogue on intellectual property is a forum for the discussion of topics on intellectual property that are important for the Swiss economy. It is based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) (pdf)  that was signed at the 17th China-Switzerland Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade of 29 May 2007 in Beijing. A working group, chaired by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the IPI, meets for this once a year. There has also been an MoU (pdf) at government agency level between the IPI and the Chinese Patent Office (State Intellectual Property Office, SIPO) since October 2012, through which a cooperation on patents and designs between these two institutions is being promoted. Bilateral meetings are held annually for this too.
