Swiss Youth in Science honours young researchers
109 researchers were awarded for their achievements in the Swiss Youth in Science national competition. The young people had worked meticulously on their research projects over the course of a year.
In the final on 3 and 4 May, the secondary and vocational school students presented their research projects at a public exhibition in the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (HSR). They also answered visitors’ questions.
Female researchers in the majority
17 cantons were represented in the final. For the first time in the history of the national competition, there were more female finalists than male. 35 young people were awarded an "excellent" grade from the expert jury, 53 "very good" and 21 "good". They also won cash prizes totalling around 85,000 francs. The 44 most innovative young researchers each received one of 23 special prizes. These include a visit to European Space Camp or an internship in a Swiss embassy of the winner's choice in Europe, Asia or the US.
The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) has been supporting the Swiss Youth in Science national competition for several years.
